Joliet, IL – Motorcyclist Killed in Crash at Jefferson St & Reedwood Dr
Joliet, IL (November 9, 2024) – A tragic accident claimed the life of a 19-year-old motorcyclist on Thursday evening in suburban Joliet. The crash occurred around 5:45 p.m. at the intersection of West Jefferson Street and Reedwood Drive, according to Joliet police.
Reports indicate the motorcyclist was riding a Suzuki GSXR 1000 eastbound on West Jefferson Street when he collided with a Nissan Rogue making a turn onto Jefferson from northbound Reedwood Drive. The impact of the crash ejected the motorcyclist from his vehicle.
Emergency responders from the Joliet Fire Department transported the motorcyclist to St. Joseph Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead. The driver of the Nissan, a 19-year-old woman from Romeoville, did not sustain injuries.
Following the incident, the intersection was temporarily closed as investigators from the Joliet Police Department worked to reconstruct the scene. The Will County Coroner’s Office will release the motorcyclist’s identity and confirm the official cause of death. Investigators have not stated whether any citations or charges will be filed.
